Maureen Lafferty, Ed.D.
Maureen A. Lafferty, Ed.D., is a licensed Staff Psychologist at the University Counseling Center (UCC)and a Concurrent Assistant Professor in Psychology. She also serves as the Coordinator for the UCC'S APA-accredited professional psychology internship program. Dr. Lafferty received her B.S. in Psychology from Wheeling Jesuit University (formerly Wheeling College) in 1981 and her M.S. in Counseling and Student Development from Radford University in 1983. She worked in residence life and student counseling before completing her doctoral degree in counseling psychology from West Virginia University in 1991. She was a staff psychologist and training coordinator at both Indiana State University and Butler University before coming to Notre Dame in 2001. Her professional interests include trauma and abuse recovery; feminist therapy; gay, lesbian, and bisexual issues; and supervision and training. She has also been active in raising community awareness in the areas of sexual assault, domestic violence, and civil rights.
